Immigration and Citizenship Agency organizes Workshop to Counter Illegal Human Trafficking

Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), recently concluded a 3-day workshop focused on countering illegal human trafficking at the country’s borders.

The workshop brought together officers from the ICA, NISA, and the Somali Police Force to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to identify human traffickers and protect victims. The participants received training on relevant legal frameworks, investigation techniques, and best practices for victim support and referral.

The ICA Deputy Director General stated that combating human trafficking is a top priority for the agency, and this workshop was an important step in strengthening their efforts to disrupt these criminal networks and protect the vulnerable. The agency is committed to taking strong legal action against perpetrators of illegal practices, including human trafficking, and ensuring that Somalia’s borders remain secure and its citizens safe.

The workshop is part of the ICA’s broader strategy to enhance border management and migration governance in Somalia. It aligns with the country’s National Development Plan and its commitment to upholding international standards on human rights and the rule of law.
