Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia Organizes Meeting to Strengthen Border Management and Collaboration.

Kismayo City, Somalia – In a significant step toward improving border security and strengthening collaboration, the Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Somalia (ICA) convened a crucial meeting with key government agencies in Kismayo. The meeting brought together 21 officers from various departments, including the ICA, National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Somali Police Force (SPF), Ministry of Finance (MoF), and Ministry of Health (MoH).

The objective of the meeting was to establish a coordinating committee tasked with overseeing the management of the Dhobley and Raaskambooni border crossings, on the Kenya-Somalia border. These crossings serve as vital conduits for trade, the movement of people, and overall economic development in the region.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in extensive discussions and deliberations to devise strategies aimed at enhancing border security while ensuring the seamless and efficient flow of goods and people.

The committee will focus on streamlining processes, fostering information sharing, and implementing effective surveillance systems at the border crossings.

This concerted effort is expected to not only bolster security measures but also contribute to the economic growth of both Somalia and Kenya by facilitating trade, investment, and cross-border business activities.
